So, God asked of Moses what he had that
could be put to use. His staff… And so it is with us when we trust in Him, our
Father. That, being made in His image, He can require of us to make use of that
He has gifted us, no matter how simple it may manifest… a snatch of an
education, a little bit of skill at selling, cooking skills… whatever it is,
this is what may all be required to lift us to the next level towards being a
blessing to ourselves and to others.
Where am I going with this? That, the video
to this song was supposed to be out by now… I did go out of my way… but here we
are. Since I had planned to launch it come August, I asked myself: What staff
is in my hand? The answer? Rudimentary skills at lyrics’ videos creation. So,
here we are, getting blessed as we await the accompanying video to the song.
The song in full, followed by the English
translation, ‘cause, you know, going international:
(Adlibs)
Baba tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua lichomozapo, lituapo
Kusini, kaskazini, magharibi, mashariki
Katika misimu yote Baba
Elohi nakusihi, tembea nami.
(Father walk with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets
In the South and North, West to East
In all seasons Father
Elohim I beseech, walk with me)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
Kapata maradhi, kaishiwa na kazi
Hasidi kwa rafiki, ukoma kwa jamii
Ila kama Ayubu, sikukulaani Elohi
Kanipa hali-mali, baraka upili.
(I fell sick and lost my job
Now become enemy to friend, Leprosy to relations
But like Job, curse you Lord I did not
Health and wealth, you blessed me once, twice)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
Ukaniokota, toka jaa la uasherati
Ukanivua, toka danguro la ulevi
Ukaniosha, ukanitakasa
Sasa mimi nyota, la ukuu wako!
(From the trash bin, you picked me
Fished me from the den of alcoholism
You cleaned and purified me
Now, I am testament of your greatness!)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
Ninapo lala njaa, wanishushia manna
Nitokapo chozi, wanipa faraja
Kwenye vita, watuma malaika
Maradhi yakija, wewe wangu mponya.
(When I sleep hungry, you avail manna
When I tear up, you comfort me
In times of war, you send angels
When diseases visit, you are my great healer.)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
(Interlude)
Likinifika kubwa, nisilolitaraji
Nijaze nguvu, nilistahimili
Nipe nguvu upya, ili nilikubali
Gumu kwangu, nyepesi kwako, barafu maji.
(When great
tragedy visits
Give me strength to overcome
Give me the serenity to accept
As ice is to water, hard to me is easy to you.)
Ukanirehemu, ukanihifadhi
Ukanikomboa, sasa ni huru
Ukanibariki, ukanitakasa
Mimi chombo chako, nieneze injili.
(You salvaged and preserved me
You unshackled me, now I am free
You blessed and sanctified
I am become your vessel, the Gospel to proclaim.)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
Ukawa baba yangu, ukawa mama yangu
Ukanirithisha, jamii la mapendo
Ukanibariki, ukaniinua
Sasa ni mtu, mbele ya wenza.
(You were my father, you were my mother
From you I inherited a family of love
You blessed and uplifted me
Now, I am someone in the eyes of my peers.)
(Chorus)
Elohi tembea, tembea nami
Usiku wa kiza, tembea nami
Jua kucha-kutwa, tembea nami
Nikiwa nayo pumzi, tembea nami.
(Elohim walk
with me
In the dark of night, walk with me
As the sun shines and sets, walk with me
As long as I have breath in me, walk with me).
Nitakusifu, nitakuinua
Nitakuchezea, nitakuimbia
Nitakutangaza, nitakutabiri
Ewe Jemedari, mmiliki wa yote.
(I’ll praise and exalt You
I’ll dance and sing for You
I’ll profess and prophesy You
O Great General, who holds dominion over all.)
(Ending)
Baba ujaze, huu mwili wangu
Kristu takasa, mawazo-fikira zangu
Roho Mtakatifu, tulia moyoni mwangu
Utatu wako, utimize nafsi yangu.
(Father, fill this my body
Jesus Christ, sanctify my thoughts
Holy Spirit, in you my heart finds solace
Let your Trinity complete my essence.)
